Typical Questions about Training with Kate

What Happens During My First Training Session?

Your first training session will consist of a screening, some fitness testing and a workout. I will need you to complete a health assessment to determine if there are any medical considerations for developing your training program. If you have certain health problems, you will need a doctor's approval to begin training. Fitness tests give you a starting point; we will track your progress from here and you will be amazed at how far you can come! We will discuss goals, nutrition, and put together a plan to get you exactly where you want to be.

Why Should I Use A Trainer?

Using a trainer is a good idea for many different types of athletes. If you are a beginner, or are getting into a new type of exercise, a trainer provides you guidance, education, and practical expertise that will enable you to train intelligently and safely. If you need sports-specific work, help coming back from an injury or a pregnancy, or simply need ideas for getting out of an exercise rut, using a personal trainer for a few sessions (or many) is a great plan for you. A trainer's professional responsibility is to help you set goals and progress safely and efficiently towards them. You'll accomplish more working with me than hitting the track or gym solo. I have a passion for this business, and look forward to helping you make the improvements you desire.

Do I have to do aerobics classes?

No! Not everyone loves group exercise. I have taught many types of these courses for years and if aerobics appeals to you, I am happy to lend you a helping hand! However, I have trained clients with diverse backgrounds and used many different approaches to reach their goals. I've worked with diverse types- from power-lifting Marines to high school cheerleaders or soccer moms. We will design a program that appeals to you because you won't stick with a plan that you do not enjoy. We want you to breathe hard!

What do your clients have to say about you?

“I had never ventured into the weight room or a gym. I thought you had to wear goofy clothes and have big biceps to even walk in the door! Kate taught me the basics and showed me how to make progress with my training. She made sure I was comfortable and I always looked forward to our sessions. I now walk in the gym doors with confidence because I know I belong there right next to the guy built like a house.” -Rick, Hilton Head, SC

“I've used trainers before and I've always gotten bored with our sessions because we did the same sorts of things every time. When I started working out with Kate she kept surprising me! She also listened to what I liked and needed, something other trainers never did. She doesn't just talk down to you and lecture you- she really helps you decide how to get where you want to go.” -Ashton, Minneapolis, MN

“I've been involved in fitness for years. I never thought a trainer could do much for me, but when a friend got me sessions as a birthday gift, I met with Kate. She listened to me and took stock of what I needed to change. Our first session I knew I was going to start asking more of my body than I had been, and Kate made sure I kept going! Her energy was contagious and I felt like I made a friend while I was learning how to get better results for bikini season!” -Monica, San Diego, CA
